What does this sport involve?

Events include individual Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Medley events as well as team relays. There are few adjustments to standard Swimming rules. Competitors may choose whether start from a starting block or in the water. Swimmers with a visual impairment can have ‘tappers’ who assist them to judge the turn at the end of the pool.

Who can compete?

Men and women. All disability groups. Swimmers are classified and compete in different events according to their functional ability.

S1 - S10 physical disabilities, S11 - S13 visual impairments, S14 - learning disabilities

Excellent sport for developing fitness and strength. At competition level needs dedication and commitment to improving individual performance.
