
Events for air pistol, air rifle and .22 rifle shooting at targets across distances from 10metres to 50 metres. There are 12 events. 6 open to men and women, 3 to men only and 3 to women only. Shooting athletes shoot from standing, sitting (wheelchair event), prone and kneeling positions.
Each event features 2 rounds. A first round of 60 shots for men and 40 for women is followed a second in which the best 8 shooters from the first round take a further 10 shots. Scores from both rounds are added and highest scores win.
Up to National Competition level in Shooting disabled shooters are permitted to take part in standard competitions but currently internationally they are restricted to Disabled Shooting Events.
Open to: Men and women with physical disability. With events both for contestants who use a shooting stand and for those who don’t use a stand
Competitive events for shooters with disabilities started in Scotland in 1970 and the sport was first included in the Paralympic Games in 1980. GBs Di Coates and Isobel Newstead have been highly successful
